I've loved books from a very young age. My parents made sure to pass down their love of books onto
me. Our house always had lots of books, and they bought me lots and lots of books whenever I showed
an interest in a certian genre or series.
My mother loved books and writing so she would always try to get me into books she thought I'd like,
and encouraged me to write my own stories.
When I was little I was quite into the Famous Five and Secret Seven, and things like Winnie the Pooh
and the Muddle Headed Wombat.
In primary school my favorite part of the week was when we got to go to the library to borrow a
book! I would have a lot of fun looking through all the shelves looking for something interesting to
being home that week, it felt like there was always something new to discover, and that's how I
still feel to this day when I enter a library or bookshop.
When highschool began, it started to make reading feel like a chore and I kind of grew to hate
reading for a long time.
I only started reading again in 2018/19 after I decided I wanted to try reading again on a whim and
picked up 'Assassin's Apprentice' by Robin Hobb, which sparked my excitement for reading again. It
took me a long time to get into, but with the help of the audio book as well as the physical book I
began to pick up more and more books and try all sorts of new ones that I would never have tried
before.
I will add more here at a later date!!
My favorite books are sci-fi and fantasy in general at the moment, I love fiction.
- the farseer trilogy - robin hobb
- the witcher - andrzej sapkowski
- mosaic - jeri taylor
- project hail mary - andy weir
- the bobiverse - dennis e. taylor
- the hobbit - j. r. r. tolkien
- feed - m.t. anderson
- promise of blood - brian mcclellan
I won't have a page for every book I've read, but most will have a little blurb talking about what I
thought about the book! Also this is very much still under construction so I only have a page for
Assassin's Apprentice at the moment but I will eventually get to doing the rest of the books soon!
None of the books are alphabetized bc I'm lazy. They are roughly ordered in terms of genre though. I
still have a lot of books that I need to add to this list too.
I tend to have lots of books 'in progress' so that if I ever get burned out on one I can move to one of
my other ones. I like to have at least 3 going at once, sometimes I have too many going at once though
like I do right now.
Also, I have noticed that I have been consuming a little too blindly lately. Jumping from one piece of
media to another and never really giving myself time to just sit with and reflect of the media I am
consuming. So, to counter this, (once I get this page all set up the way I want it) I will be trying to
write a detailed review and reflection on each piece of media I conssume. I am doing this to help
improve my reflection skills as well as to improve my ability to think deeper about the things that I
spend my time doing. I hope to begin implementing this in all aspects of my life, but I am beginning
here to kick it off a bit slower.
